The library contains a phase vocoder, onset and pitch detection functions, a beat tracking algorithm and other sound processing utilities. This package provides the aubio module for Python 2.
A vocoder is a specific effect: you pass the signal through a multi-band filter, each band to an envelope follower, and then the output from the envelope follower is used to perform filter control and additional synthesis. "It turns an analog audio signal in to something that can control a synthesis engine" is a simplified way of saying that. A vocoder (/ ˈ v oʊ k oʊ d ər /, a portmanteau of voice and encoder) is a category of voice codec that analyzes and synthesizes the human voice signal for audio data compression, multiplexing, voice encryption or voice transformation. This is a project to help preserve there work, and make it simple for people to use and download :).The vocoder was invented in 1938 by Homer Dudley at Bell Labs as a means of synthesizing human speech. I did not create any of the custom objects in this project "but one".
